Atlet renang Jay Litherland dan Chase Kalisz ditegur oleh panitia Olimpiade Tokyo. Sebabnya, mereka pelukan di atas podium!
Dalam cabang olahraga perorangan renang 400 meter yang digelar di Tokyo Aquatics Centre, Minggu (25/7) kemarin, dua atlet Amerika Serikat jadi juaranya. Jay Litherland memenangi medali perak dan Chase Kalisz memenangi medali emas.
Seperti biasa, keduanya pun dikalungi medali Olimpiade di podium dan dilanjutkan dengan foto bersama. Ketika itu, Jay dan Chase pun saling berpelukan dengan penuh emosional.

Dilansir dari Metro, aksi pelukan Jay dan Chase mendapat teguran dari pihak panitia Olimpiade. Sebab ada aturan, para atlet dilarang pelukan di podium!
Hal itu didasari sebagai protokol kesehatan di tengah pandemi untuk tidak melakukan kontak dekat. Sekaligus mengingatkan kepada masyarakat, untuk tetap menjaga jarak.
"Aturan tersebut harus dipatuhi oleh seluruh tim," tegas juru bicara IOC (International Olympic Committee), Mark Adams.
"Ini mengirimkan pesan yang kuat jadi tolong ikuti pedomannya. Kami memahami ada kegembiraan dan kami merasakannya untuk para atlet, tetapi sayangnya kami harus membuat aturan lebih ketat," lanjutnya.
"Pesan-pesan ini terus-menerus disampaikan, tidak hanya kepada atlet. Ini demi kepentingan semua orang," sambungnya.
Para atlet di podium masih boleh untuk berfoto bersama dan berdekatan. Meski begitu, terlihat sejak awal Olimpiade Tokyo 2020, masih ada beberapa atlet yang saling merangkul kala di podium dan hal itu dinilai masih diperbolehkan karena cuma berlangsung beberapa detik dan tetap menggunakan masker.
