"Glory Glory" boleh jadi merupakan salah satu chant sepakbola yang paling familiar di telinga fans. Tahukah Anda bahwa sedikitnya empat klub menjadikan chant itu sebagai lagu kebesaran mereka.
Glory Glory itu sendiri awalnya merupakan sebuah lagu hymne berjudul "The Battle Hymn of the Republic", yang ditulis oleh seorang Amerika bernama Julia Ward pada November 1861.
Lagu yang tercipta di masa Perang Saudara (Civil War) itu kemudian dikenal sebagai salah satu lagu perjuangan Amerika yang paling populer.

Oleh sejumlah klub sepakbola di Inggris Raya, lagu tersebut menjadi inspirasi. Chorus asli lagu ini, yaitu "Glory, Glory Hallelujah", digantikan bagian "Hallelujah"-nya dengan nama klub yang bersangkutan. Siapa saja klub-klub itu, berikut ringkasannya:
Klub Skotlandia ini tercatat sebagai klub pertama yang menjadikan 'Glory Glory' sebagai lagu kebesaran mereka. Chant itu ditulis dan dinyanyikan oleh penyanyi, pelawak sekaligus aktor Hector Nicol di tahun 1950-an, dengan judul "Glory Glory to The Hibees".
Uniknya, Nicol tak cuma menciptakan lagu untuk Hibernian. Ia juga membuat lagu untuk tiga klub Skotlandia yang lain: "The Hearts Song" (untuk Hearts FC), "The Terrors of Tannadice" (Dundee United FC), dan "Dark Blue Of Dundee" (Dundee FC). Ia sendiri merupakan fans klub St. Mirren.

Seorang penyanyi bernama Ronnie Hilton di tahun 1958 menulis lagu "Glory Glory Leeds United" untuk merayakan keberhasilan klub tersebut menjuarai Piala Liga dan Piala Inter-Cities Fairs, yang merupakan cikal bakal turnamen Piala UEFA.
Di awal lagu tersebut disebut-sebut Manchester United, Mike Summerbee dan George Best, juga Arsenal, Liverpool, dan Tottenham Hotspur. Namun buat mereka, Leeds-lah tim yang paling mereka cintai. Kira-kira begitu pesannya.

Lagu "Glory Glory" baru dijadikan chant Manchester United sejak dirilis oleh skuat tim tersebut menjelang final Piala FA 1983. Liriknya digubah oleh Frank Renshaw, salah satu anggota grup band Herman's Hermit.
Lagu itu direkam di sebuah studio musik di wilayah Stockport, di mana yang menyanyikannya adalah para pemain MU kala itu, dan juga sejumlah teman-teman Renshaw.
Menurut Wikipedia, di era 90-an banyak suporter tim rival MU yang memplesetkan lagu tersebut menjadi "Who the Fuck are Man United?" ketika tim mereka bertanding melawan "Setan Merah". Grup rock Oasis juga pernah menggiring penontonnya dalam sebuah konser untuk membuat chant "penghinaan" tersebut.
