Glory Glory itu sendiri awalnya merupakan sebuah lagu hymne berjudul "The Battle Hymn of the Republic", yang ditulis oleh seorang Amerika bernama Julia Ward pada November 1861.
Lagu yang tercipta di masa Perang Saudara (Civil War) itu kemudian dikenal sebagai salah satu lagu perjuangan Amerika yang paling populer.
